Bast oh Bast….I will begin by tossing her. Her struggle in the last race has given me pause to consider her to contend with these other very talented 2yo Fillies. Let’s start with the 2 for 2 British Idiom and Wicked Whisper. Wicked Whisper made some noise going wire to wire in the Frizette. A race that has set up future BC Juv Fillies Jaywalk and Caledonia Road. The Outlier is Donna Veloce. She has been very impressive during her morning workouts and her 6fl maiden win was definitely a stand out. No horse has ever won this race coming out of a one race maiden win and this will be her first time running against winners. My long shot play will be my all heart and all game girl Perfect Alibi. This filly has done everything and more to show up on big race days even if she doesn’t like her morning work outs. (Practice? Who needs practice?) She has had 5 starts and only 1 loss. After her loss, she has rebounded to win the next 2 stakes wins.

Chad Brown dominates this race every year winning the last 4 out of 5 years. The first running of this race in 2008 at Santa Anita was won by Brown with Maram. Selflessly will look to become Brown’s fourth filly to notch a Miss Grillo-Juvenile Fillies Turf double after Lady Eli, New Money Honey, and Newspaperofrecord. She will have to contend with Pletcher’s very talented and royally bred Sweet Melania, an American Pharoah baby who has shown her love of the turf. Aiden O’Brien sends out his experienced filly, Tango, out of No Nay Never with 8 starts already. Unlike their male counterparts, the Euros haven’t performed well in this race. Shadn could be the exception. She gives it her all every time she races and her heart seems bigger than she is. She is out of No Nay Never/Scat Daddy/Saddler’s Wells/ Northern Dancer.
