– 6 Furlongs. ™‘Mdn 70k Purse $70,000 FOR MAIDENS, FILLIES AND MARES FOURYEARS OLD AND UPWARD FOALED IN NEW YORK STATEQualifying Offer (5)Equant (1)Beautiful Karen (4)Chad Brown sends Qualifying Offer to debut in a group that seems soft enough to win first time out. Hammered at 30X her stud’s fee, and Lezcano preferring her over the Linda Rice filly are other important factors to take into account. Equant will sport blinkers for the first time and she already showed improvement last time out when transferred to the main strip. Beautiful Karen seems to be the main speed in here and is dangerous if she is allowed an easy lead. .
– 1 Mile. ™Clm 12500 Purse $35,000 FOR FILLIES AND MARES FOUR YEARS OLDAND UPWARD.Take Charge Tina (8)Violent Trick (4)Mongolian Humor (7)The three top pick should decide this race. The sudden drop of the speedy Violent Trick after being transferred to Rudy Rodriguez makes you wonder if the horse is good enough to win in this group. Rudy also has Take Charge Tina, who will be stalking the early leader and will draw first blood. Mongolian Humor is dangerous if the leaders engage in a speed duel upfront, dropping to this level for the first time.
– 6 Furlongs. OClm 50000 Purse $55,000 (UP TO $9,570 NYSBFOA) FOR THREEYEAR OLDSTaino (5)Charlie Five O (6)Conformist (4)Taino won first time out against a much weaker group, but looked good enough to think he can improve off that effort. Eric Cancel, who’s still riding very well here, gets the assignment for trainer Carlos Martin. The quick eight day turnaround is another factor I like. Charlie Five O is definitely the horse to beat, coming from an open length maiden score. Trainer Gargan will put Lasix on him and the fact that he is taking a step up in class gives you confidence. Conformist also gets Lasix for the first time and should improve off a somewhat disappointing last race.
– 1 Mile. ‘Mdn 70k Purse $70,000 FOR MAIDENS, THREE YEARS OLD FOALED INNEW YORK STATEDevious Mo (6)Full Moon Fever (7)My Brother Neil (5)After claiming him for $40,000, Rudy Rodriguez gave Devious Mo a two month rest and returns him to a better group and with blinkers on. He seems to be the fastest in here and easily can take them wire to wire. Full Moon Fever was compromised by a slow pace last time out, and probably will encounter more of the same here, so Luzzi will need to position him closer to the leader to have a chance to run down the pace setter. My Brother Neil looks to improve off a very useful debut run, and gets Manny Franco on his saddle now.
– 6 Furlongs. Clm 25000 Purse $50,000 FOR FOUR YEAR OLDS AND UPWARD.Mc Erin (7)Topper T (2)Clench (8)The extremely consistent Mc Erin gets the nod in this race. He always gives a good account of himself in these middle claiming groups and is the speediest in this bunch, now under the training of Rudy Rodriguez. Topper T is interesting, much more when Karl Broberg’s operation focuses on the Midwest. He is looking to establish himself as a presence in this strong colony of trainers, and this horse hasn’t been that far away from my top pick. Clench flunked last time out, but gets a relief in class and blinkers on. He has been running against much better horses.
– 6 Furlongs. ™Alw 82000n1x Purse $82,000 (UP TO $14,268 NYSBFOA) FORFILLIES AND MARES FOUR YEARS OLD AND UPWARDForever Changed (2)Jump for Joy (3)She’s a Black Belt (5)Forever Changed likes this Aqueduct track a lot, winning three of his five tries at the Big A. She should be stalking the leaders and with Cancel up, she is extremely live here. Jump for Joy is another Aqueduct lover and Lezcano already won with her, although in an easier spot. She will be forwardly placed and the six furlongs is her best trip. The upset here can be She’s a Black Belt, who won last time out for her new connections and then step her up in class, a sign of confidence on her current condition.
– 1 Mile. ‘Mdn 70k Purse $70,000 FOR MAIDENS, THREE YEARS OLD FOALED INNEW YORK STATEIt’s Gravy (5)Brew Pub (8)Ruse (4)Top pick comes from running in state bred stakes races and doing very well indeed. Obviously, this maiden is much softer than a stakes race, so we need to put him first in our list, now with Lasix. Brew Pub failed as the choice last time out, but Kobiskie hits at a 36% clip with beaten faves and the fact that he is not dropping him is a sign of confidence. Watch out for Ruse, who had some problems in his most recent, which was his first on the dirt. They are not dropping him, so maybe we need to give him another chance.
– 6½ Furlongs. ™‘FrnklnSqrB100K Franklin Square S. Purse $100,000 FORFILLIES THREE YEARS OLD FOALED IN NEW YORK STATEVacay (1)Laobanonaprayer (4)A Life That’s Good (3)Vacay is a very nice filly that has shown lots of potential, even to try open stakes company. Pletcher is taking a very conservative approach with her and this is a race in which she can show what she is made of. Laobanonaprayer is another very good filly, this one needs some more pace to run against, but she has two stakes wins in a row and can’t be surprised if she makes it a Triple. A Life that’s Good completes the selection, looked good in her maiden score and there is still some upside potential here.
– 1 Mile. ™Alw 82000n1x Purse $82,000 (UP TO $14,268 NYSBFOA) FOR FILLIESAND MARES FOUR YEARS OLD AND UPWARDLove and Love (2)South of the Shore (4)Fiftyshades ofgreen (8)Puzzling race to end this card. Love and Love won very impressively in her most recent and if we draw a line to her grass race, her consistency is admirable. A vote of confidence from the connections is that she steps up to face open company. South of The Shore didn’t do much in her return race, but Pletcher puts blinkers in her; probably by advise of Jose Lezcano, who repeats in the saddle. Very dangerous. Fiftyshades ofgreen goes second time out for Linda Rice. I bet her last time out, let’s do a follow up for today.
